These VME6U6 mezzanine
boards are variations of the 6UT1D. Each has a very
robust electrical protection on the AMI/B8ZS interface
and the NRZ interface is not optically coupled. Software
interface is compatible with the 6UT1D. The 6UT1S is a
short haul transceiver with the optically coupled
interface removed to improve its MTBF.
The 6UT1L long haul transceiver capable of operating
over twisted-pair cable up to 6,000 feet. It can support
low voltage levels of a telecom monitor.
The 6UT1S and 6UT1L boards can use the clock of the
incoming T1 line to master the clock to other T1
mezzanines. They automatically transfer the robbed-bit
signaling bits from the incoming to the outgoing paths,
allowing inserting of channel data without special DSP
code for maintaining the signaling data. With the
outgoing multi-frame aligned with the incoming
multi-frame, signaling bit copying is controlled by the
TDM map on a timeslot by timeslot basis.
