These mezzanine boards interface directly with a
standard T1 phone line allowing the VME6U6 or VME9U12 to transmit and receive
T1 in full duplex mode. Alternate Mark Inversion
(AMI/B8ZS) and NRZ interfaces are supported with the
necessary electrical isolation and protection circuits.
The NRZ interface is optically isolated balanced
differential compatible with RS422 and MIL STD-188-114.
The NRZ data rate is externally determined (up to 4
Mbps).
Incoming T1 data is demultiplexed and placed on the
TDM subsystem on a time-slot by time-slot basis. Data
taken from the TDM subsystem is multiplexed onto the
outgoing T1 data stream. The host application determines
the TDM configuration allowing the DSP32Cs to read and
write T1 data without having to be aware of the T1
framing format. In addition to the standard 1.544 MHz T1
rate, TDM clock rates of 2.048 or 6.144 MHz can be locked
to the T1 frame rate, providing higher TDM bandwidths.
See TDM for limitations.
The 6UT1D and 9UT1D include a TDM expansion interface,
in addition to the TDM expansion available on the VME6U6
by itself, allowing two or more boards to share TDM
subsystem data.
