DARTdsp

The DARTdsp is designed for audio signal processing applications using a laptop or standard PC computer with a type 3 PCMCIA slot. The DARTdsp has a 33mflops Lucent DSP3210 digital signal processor, stereo CD quality audio input/output channels, 256k bytes of zero wait-state SRAM, 512k bytes of flash memory, and DRAM options.

PCMCIA Interface

The DARTdsp conforms to type 3 PCMCIA Release 2.1, July 1993. Host program and board communications are performed using C-callable functions provided as part of the CAC software libraries.

Audio Channels

A Crystal Semiconductor CS4216 16-bit codec provides stereo CD quality audio line-in and line-out channels. On-board amplifiers accept microphone input and provide adequate headphone output. The CS4216 features 64X oversampling, sigma-delta modulation, 16-bit resolution, and auto-tracking anti-aliasing/reconstruction filters.

Serial Port

A 15-pin receptacle on the exterior edge of the board can accept either our adaptor with two 3.5mm female stereo jacks or a custom connector for direct interface to the DSP's 10 mbps serial port.

Options

The DARTdsp may be configured with the DRAM, flash memory and zero wait-state SRAM shown below. Call for availability of combinations.

Programmable Features

Both the DSP and the host may control the following:

Sample Rate - standard:  8, 9.6, 12, 16, 19.2, 24, 32, & 48 kHz
Sample Rate - optional: 7.35, 8.82, 11.025, 14.7, 17.64, 22.05, 29.4 & 44.1 kHz
Input Gain:   0 to 22.5 dB
Output Attenuation:  0 to -46.5 dB

Software Programmers writing dedicated DSP3210 application software can use the Lucent C compiler, assembler, and applications library package for the DSP3210. We provide MSDOS and Windows 3.1 libraries of C-callable functions for host communications and control, as well as our DSP3210 program debugger, D32Bug, to assist developers.

For developers of real-time, multi-tasking applications running under Windows 3.1, Lucent's VCOS Software Developer's Kit (sdk) and VCOS Module Developer's Kit (mdk) are included in the DSP3210-VDS software package. We provide a VCOS-compatible DSP3210 program debugger, VBUG.

Power Requirements

Fully populated, the DARTdsp consumes a maximum of 2.75 watts at 5v, 1.4 watts when reset and .3 watts while in the powered down mode.
