Empack System

Embedded Packaging

The flexible, universal, compact solution
for demanding telecom and DSP applications

Utilizing the two enduring standards available to most computer systems, the SCSI interface and a 5 1/4" drive bay, the EmPack architecture offers a complete telecom and DSP subsystem which can be used on any host from notebook computers to 19" rack mount bays. EmPack systems can be configured with off-the-shelf components for quick prototyping and cost-effective upgrades.

Empack SCSI bus family of base board, mezzanine modules, and enclosures
	for telecommunications signal processing.

EmPack unit with three EMC12 mezzanine modules

Inside, an EmPack is composed of a foundation board and up to seven mezzanine boards. The foundation board has a SCSI-3 interface and, optionally, two T1 or E1 interfaces. The on-board Hitachi processors provide all the power necessary to support the two bi-directional telecom interfaces.

When additional timeslot processing is required, a selection of mezzanine boards offer fixed-point and floating-point DSPs, RISC processors, and specialized interfaces.

A variety of accessories are available including SCSI adapters, cables and external enclosures.

EmPack Hardware Reference Manual and Empack Software Reference Manual are available on-line or on CD-ROM. Drivers, demos, diagnostics and the T1/E1 API are provided at no-charge for Windows 9x/NT and Solaris.
