It includes two Munich32 32-channel HDLC
controllers from Siemens and 128kB of dual-port RAM. The
HDLC bit streams are connected to time slots on the four TDM buses on our 6U VME
(V6M6) and
(V6M6 Hot-swap), our 6U Compact PCI
(C6M6) board.
HDLC message data is passed
across the PCI bus and through the dual port RAMs. The
IMHDLC is typically used to perform the frame formatting
portion of Layer 2 communication protocols such as ISDN
LAPD. Individual channels are programmed through the TDM
subsystem and may be 16 kbps, 64 kbps or multiples of 64
kbps.
