to the EmPack, using ISA cards as adapters.
The outside signals plug into the connectors on the endplate
of the ISA cards and ribbon cables route these signals inside the
host computer to the EmPack. |

EA-ISA-12IN
A 68-pin EmC12 cable (part number
CBL-P2-35) and a T1/E1 cable which comes
out the back of the EmPack unit plugs into the ISA card part
number EA-ISA-12IN. The endplate of this card has a DB-25 male
connector which accepts the audio input cable,
CBL-B12J-25J, and a DB-15 male connector
for the T1/E1/stereo audio cable,
CBL-T4B4J-15J. |

EA-ISA-12OUT
A second ISA card, EA-ISA-12OUT, serves as an audio output link and
is connected to the EA-ISA-12IN via a 3" flat-ribbon cable,
part number CBL-P2-3.
The endplate of this card has a DB-25 male connector which accepts
the audio output cable, CBL-B25J-12J. |

This cable is used to interface external analog input signals to the
EmC12 twelve audio mezzanine card. It has female BNC connectors on the
input end and a female DB-25 connector on the other to mate with the
EA-ISA-12IN card. Each wire is labeled with its channel number. |

This cable is used to interface external analog output signals to the
EmC12 twelve audio mezzanine card. It has female BNC connectors on the
output end and a female DB-25 connector on the other to mate with the

CBL-T4B4J-15J
This cable is used to interface external T1/E1 lines as well as the
stereo audio signals to the EmPack’s foundation board.
It has four Trompeter CJ70 connectors for the telephony lines and
female BNC connectors for the audio I/O. A female DB-15 connector on
the other end mates with the EA-ISA-12IN card. Each wire is labeled
appropriately. |

When executing the audio diagnostics, this loopback connector ties
the twelve audio output signals of the EA-ISA-12OUT to the input
lines of EA-ISA-12IN. |

This patch panel provides a clean and professional look to the job of
interfacing the EmC12 mezzanine board’s audio to external signals.
The panel brings all twelve CODEC I/O channels (24 signals) of the
EmC12 card to individual tri-axial connectors for easy link-up with
analog lines. Jumper selectable options on the circuit board include
600 ohm audio input terminators and single-ended vs balanced audio
input and output. A 68-pin high density connector on the rear of the
panel mates with the ribbon cable coming off the front of the EmC12
front panel of the EmPack. |
