The V3C31 is a general purpose digital signal
processor for the 3U VME bus. It features a Texas
Instrument's TMS320C31 clocked at 60MHz, stereo
CD-quality input/output audio channels, up to 1.5MB SRAM
and 2MB flash memory. The VME base address of the V3C31
board is selected by two hex rotary switches. Two LEDs on
the front panel are user programmable as status
indicators.

SRAM
The V3C31 comes standard with 512kB of zero wait-state
SRAM. On board sockets accommodate an additional 1MB of
one wait-state SRAM.
Flash Memory
The 512kB of flash memory can contain the user's
application software which the V3C31 copies into its SRAM
when powered up. Flash memory can be added in 512kB
increments up to a total of 2MB.
Serial Port
An RS232 com port is available through a 4-pin
latching Molex connector on the endplate.
Jumper Options
- AC coupled
- DC coupled centered at ground
- DC coupled centered at 2.5v
- Electret microphone bias
- 150 ohms analog input termination
- 60 ohms analog input termination
Software
The V3C31 board is provided with a C-callable host
software interface library and software drivers for SunOS
and Solaris. The host interface library allows access and
control of the V3C31 board by providing the following
functions:
- Open/close the board for access
- Initialize the board
- Set/read the board's control parameters
- Download a C31 COFF executable file
- Read symbol information from COFF file
- Start/halt execution of the DSP's program
- Upload/download data as a long int, a float, or
an array of long ints
- Read/write a value from the flash memory
- Erase a sector in the flash memory space

Audio Channels
A Crystal Semiconductor CS4231A stereo multimedia CODEC
provides single-ended line-in and line-out audio
channels. Access to the signals are via four miniature
SMB connectors on the endplate. The CS4231A uses
sigma-delta modulation, 64x over-sampling, 16-bit
resolution, and auto-tracking
anti-aliasing/reconstruction filter. Sampling rate, gain,
attenuation, linear (16-bit & 8-bit), A-law, µ-law,
and ADPCM formats are software selectable.
