Overview

The following changes are introduced in this release:

Channelization transmit support

Additions and fixes to the Solaris device driver

New and modified diagnostic programs

New and modified utility programs

Note: This release includes new embedded code and FPGA configurations. Customers must run dpflashup after installation to receive the full benefit of this update.

Channelization Transmit Support

The PCI4E1 now supports both transmit and receive operation. Transmit channels may be opened by passing the CHAN_WRITE flag to pci_open_chan. Data is sent to transmit channels using the pci_write_chan function.

Solaris Device Driver

Bug Fixes

Makefile did not always update files in /kernel/drv as needed
"no-autorun" property now defaulted to true in pcie1drv.conf
Rewrite of receive DMA functions to improve performance
Cleaned up trace and error messages

New Functionality

Transmit channelization support
Changes to prepare for module support
Additional debug interfaces

New and Modified Diagnostic Programs

A new diagnostic, dpburn, has been added to automate production testing of boards.

The dpchantest diagnostic has been almost totally rewritten:

Now multithreaded
Performs transmit and receive tests
Tests multiple boards/framers simultaneously
Works with dpburn
Fully functional on Intel platforms

Please note that the command line options have changed significantly (run with no arguments for a usage message).

The dpdpram diagnostic has been updated to:

Fix a bug parsing the -b switch
Fix report mode output for use with dpburn
Stop channelization before running tests

The dppiomem diagnostic has been updated to:

Fix report mode output for use with dpburn
Put processor into reset instead of hold

New and Modified Utility Programs

The dpclock utility has been modified to only update to saved clock configuration. This means a power cycle is necessary after use but prevents a system hang.

The dpdebug utility has been modified to support expansion module development.

The dpflashup utility has been modified to:

Fix a filename creation bug
Support force loading specific devices
Support multiple -o switches
Old -l option renamed to -L
New -l option:
- takes device and filename arguments
- performs relocation
- extracts version information from filename
Improved output from -s and -S modes
CPLD now updated first
Supports 'all' as board specifier

Added batch mode to dprun for use with dpburn

Fixed "1 hours" message in dpburntime

New utility, dppws, can be used to interactively modify framer output waveforms

New utility, dpcons, provides a console on the embedded processor.

Removed dptp12config from distribution (for internal use only).
