Overview

Release 3.5.6 of the Empack software includes Version 3.5.6 of the host libraries and programs and Version 3.5.4 of the Embedded Firmware and FPGA configurations.
The following changes are introduced in this release:

Fix for handling thread-specific global variables in the Windows DLL.

Component versions for this release.

Note: This release only affects the Windows API.

Fix for Handling Thread-Specific Global Variables in the Windows DLL

There was a problem with the changes made in the previous release for handling thread-specific global variables in the Windows API. They neglected to retain a compiler directive required to load code in the proper data space.

The problem manifests when calling certain API functions after a subprocess using the API terminates. This happens in the case of the diagnostic programs invoked by the emburn and emdiag programs. There may be other, undiscovered, affects of the problem.

The Empack API software release includes several components of software and hardware FPGA configurations. All the components have the same major and minor version numbers. However the update version number of each component may vary depending on the number of changes and iterations each component has gone through between general distribution releases.
