Overview

Version 3.1.4 of the VME6U6 / VME9U12 host software includes the following changes:

• Modifications to C12 library functions and diagnostics to support revision 3 6UC12 Mezzanines.
• Changed the dspreset program to not invoke dspinit with the quiet (-q) option.
• Modification to some diagnostic programs to avoid compiler warning.

Revision 3 6U12 Mezzanines

Hardware revision 3 of the 6UC12 Mezzanine includes protection circuits for EMI and ESD immunity and a new analog filter design with improved anti-aliasing characteristics.

It is compatible with 6U12 Revision 2 except that it's analog output voltage is increased by approximately 0.5 dB. The difference is not audibly discernable. However, the difference falls outside of the acceptance range of the d3fft diagnostic program.

This situation was handled by adding an additional table of acceptable ranges in the d3fft diagnostic. A method of detecting a Revsion 3 6UC12 was added to the hardware and the library function that determines 6UC12 versions was modified to check for and return a value for revision 3. In order for this version test to work, it is necessary to update the EPROM on the VME6U6 baseboard to a version that has "C05" or higher on it's label.

Modification to DSPRESET

The dspreset program was modified to not use the quiet option (-q) when it invokes the dspinit program. This change was made so that errors in re-initializing boards are displayed.

Modifications to Avoid Compiler Warnings

Several diagnostic programs were written with their main() function declared as returning type void. Some newer compilers expect main to return type int and issued a warning when those diagnostics were compiled. To avoid those warning messages, their code was modified so that the function, main, is not declared as a void type.
